The Bantam Cub petrol tank is based on the Bantam D7 and the Super Cub on the Bantam D10. The two tanks are completely differerent shapes and in both cases the T20B versions are not exactly the same as the original BSA models because of the difference between the Triumph and BSA badges. Launched in 1953, the origins of the Triumph Tiger cub can be found in its smaller cousin the 150cc Triumph Terrier which had been launched a year earlier. Both were designed by Edward Turner and provided a four stroke alternative to the many Villiers engine two stroke machines that made up the vast majority of the small capacity market. In particular the Triumph Tiger Cub and BSA Bantam had used common parts such as forks, wheels, brakes, etc. However, it wasn't until the mid-60's that a closer merger of the BSA Bantam and Triumph Tiger Cub models was considered to further improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
